Factors in Picking a Golf Simulator – Structures

Structures
There are many different types of structures available. Your needs will vary depending on the application. The great thing about golf simulators is their ability to be added to existing projection-based systems. This means that a structure does not have to be built or can be modified to meet your specific needs.

Structures are becoming smaller day by day. The average size of a structure is approximately 10'X10’X10'. The majority of structures currently on the market are large and can be placed in semi-permanent locations.

A replacement screen will cost you between $300 and $1500. Every high-impact screen I have seen will experience what I call "friction burns". These happen when golf balls hit the screen at high velocity.

The screen and system will still work well with lots of friction burns but will eventually look worn. In a commercial environment, most screens last for around three years. Your screen's life expectancy will be maximized if you use clean, unaffected golf balls.

What is the composition of the structure?
If you're looking at commercial settings, is it sensible to use plastic curtains as sidewalls in a simulator?

What guarantees are available for buildings?
Some manufacturers offer a 1- to 3-year warranty on structures, but others don't. So make sure you ask. It is a risky purchase of a used simulator that doesn't come with a warranty.

The choice of structure will depend on how much space you have, and how much you can afford.
